#05: You’re Doing it All Wrong

THIS WEEK AND FOR ALL THE WEEKS WE'RE GOING TO KEEP TALKING ABOUT EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN.

Ugh. No wonder I have such ennui. I'm doing it all wrong. And so are you. This list of the 54 things women are doing wrong is possibly my favorite piece of round-up journalism ever.

Added to the reading list
: Double Blind, as covered in this week's New Yorker by the consistently exceptional Jia Tolentino, discussing the "infantilizing ways we talk about women's ambition:"

Ambition will always be complicated for women, and not just because of external impediments: it is an imperfect drive, enacted in imperfect circumstances, that inevitably leads to imperfect things.

Where 20% time means something pretty different for women.

Two fantastic pieces on getting what you are worth
from Otegha Uwagba, who's totally awesome Women Who newsletter makes my every Wednesday. First, some real talk about working your side hustle, and second, advice for straight talking about money.

A truly thoughtful  response from a chef when people complain about the prices at his restaurant:

People don’t realize how difficult it is to make a dollar in the restaurant industry; they just look at the food cost and think they could do it for less.

Aaand here's one for the fellow saddos out there. This would be shoe-gazing, if they had any feet...the world's first (I hope?) emo puppet band, Fragile Rock.
